Water Board Minutes
Bob Sird called the Water Board meeting to order at 6:00 P.M. Water Board Commissioners present were Bob Sird, Larry Pomainville and Chris Hanrahan. Also present Helen McKinlay.
The minutes of 07/12/05 were reviewed, discussed and approved.
A copy of the order prepared for the 8/17/05 Select Board meeting was reviewed for Water Department charges and approved by the Water Board.
A trial balance report of Pittsford and Florence Water Departments showing the year to date figures was reviewed, discussed and approved. Utility bills were due yesterday, August 15, 2005. Copies of the warrants showing delinquencies were included with the Boards packets for review.
Correspondence Re: Water Bill Issues
A letter from Diana Merritt stating her water meter hadn’t been read and she felt she’d been overcharged was reviewed and discussed by the Water Board. C. Hanrahan made a motion to reduce the most recent bill to $75.00. Ms. Merritt will be notified of the billing reduction and asked to keep the meter area accessible for future readings. The motion was seconded by L. Pomainville. The motion passed unanimously.
Notes from Paul Matthews (former Sam & Barbara Adams) and Jane Monroe, Chittenden residents who have drilled wells asked their last water bills be dismissed since the wells are in currently in use. C. Hanrahan made a motion, seconded by L. Pomainville for these bills to be deleted as errors and omissions. The motion passed unanimously.
A complaint from Joseph House regarding his estimated bill was reviewed and discussed. C. Hanrahan made a motion, seconded by L. Pomainville to reduce the last bill to $75.00. The motion passed unanimously.
In light of the complaints received regarding estimated bills were discussed. C. Hanrahan made a motion, seconded by L. Pomainville for B. Babcock to conduct an interim complete meter reading at the end of August and the end of December to assure accurate readings for all water meters. Broken meters and remotes will be also noted at this time. A status report on the meter readings will be reviewed at the September meeting. A monthly status report of new meter installations will be reviewed at each monthly meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
The Water Board discussed the shut off procedure for the Chittenden residents required to drill wells. C. Hanrahan made a motion, seconded by L. Pomainville to shut off each resident with a wrench immediately upon notification of the resident having the well in place. Physical shut offs should begin immediately and be done in groups such as 5 during one scheduled day of shut offs rather than individually. The motion passed unanimously.
