Correspondence from State re: status of Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements
An inspector from the State Wastewater Management Division contacted the Town to follow-up on the status of the installation of a second contact chlorine chamber and sludge pumping station. These projects were put on hold pending the outcome of pending litigation. Kathleen noted that Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Jack Shedd reported that increased sludge pumping has greatly improved e-coli results, with readings well below permit levels for the month of August. Discussion was held in regards to different ways to improve pumping the sludge and needing a second contact chlorine chamber. The Board would like Kathleen to contact Otter Creek Engineering to inquire on the status of the engineering plans for the second contact chlorine chamber and the sludge pumping station, and review the increased sludge pumping as a strategy for improving e-coli results in the short term, in order to document compliance efforts to the State. K. Ramsay will notify the State that infiltration issues have been addressed in repairs completed on the Elm Street pumping station.
With no further business, the Sewer Board adjourned at 7:22 PM.
