Also present were Michael Balch, Linda Drummond, Helen McKinlay, Kathleen Ramsay, David Rowe, Tom Carrara, William Bowman, Kathy Brown, Tom Brown, Shawn Erickson, Sally Eugair, Don Nickless, and Lisa Connell.
The Sewer Board minutes of June 6, 2007 were approved.
Current sewer and water hookup charges are being compared against the 2005-2006 reappraisal information from the Listers office. It is a complicated process and several changes have already been made to both water and sewer charges from information gathered from this comparison and also from the sewer hookup inspections Bruce Babcock completed last summer. L. Drummond is continuing to work on this project.
Discussion was held in regards to sewer capacity and if there are any new available sewer hookups available. There is an average of 4,000 gallons of uncommitted sewer capacity according to the State report which is approximately 5% of the allotted 85,000 gallons a day. The Board could look at the possibility of an additional sewer hookup if one was requested. The flow average fluctuates each month depending on the water infiltration from stormwater runoff. Completing the Elm Street manhole project this spring should decrease the amount of stormwater runoff therefore increasing the average for uncommitted sewer capacity. M. Balch has suggested to the State to have a five year average instead of a one year average to give a better picture for sewer capacity which would reflect different types of weather conditions and the stormwater runoff.
There are sewer allocation reservations of 8310 gallons a day.
The Town needs: 1) To build a second chlorine contact chamber to be able to clean the first contact chamber out and 2) To have a State approved system for loading sludge onto trucks for removal. Estimates to do both projects have been approximately $150,000. Further discussion was held in regards to what is needed to complete these projects.
With no further business, the Sewer Board adjourned at 7:10 PM.
