ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

The minutes of June 10, 2009 were read and accepted. K. Brown made the motion to accept the minutes as read.

M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT

R. Adams presented his August and September 2009 Recreation Director Reports. M. Poljaick suggested that the Recreation Department offer a Field Hockey Camp for girls entering Otter Valley. He also suggested working the Fire Dept. to run a BBQ & "Street Dance" like when he was a kid growing up in Pittsford.

OLD BUSINESS

Summer Programs

The Recreation Department is gearing up for another great summer season. The Recreation Department will be offering three 2-week sessions of swim lessons, six weeks of Day Camp, plus for the first time in long time tennis camp. M. Poljacik asked how the July tennis camp went. R. Adams stated he was happy to find someone who was interested in running a program for us. Suzanne Woods did a great job with the program. Besides the torrential rain, the first two days the camp and the beginning had to be pushed back the program went smoothly and was informational for the tennis players who took part.

Pittsford Day

Pittsford Day was Saturday, July 18, 2009. Happily, the weather was fantastic and the day went of smoothly. The Pittsford Day Committee was happy with the events and the food vendors. Omya did great job as the cooperate sponsor of the event. Since the reincarnation of Pittsford Day in 2005 they have always donated to Pittsford Day, but after participating in the 2008 event and finding out how well it is ran by its volunteers, and supported by the public, they wanted to take on a larger role. Mr. Adams stressed that that they are always searching for new volunteers to be part of the Pittsford Day Committee. There are roughly only six people (Ron & Phaedra Washburn, Jenny Parker, Kathy Brown, Jill Blanchard from Omya and Randy Adams) who plan the entire Pittsford Day.

Terry Poor/Tony Freson "Disc Golf Proposal"

Terry Poor gave a 20-minute presentation at the June 10, 2009 Recreation Committee meeting on why he thinks a "Disc Golf Course" would be beneficial to the residents of Pittsford and why one should be installed at the Recreation Area. Mr. Poor set a 3-hole course at Pittsford Days so residents could play on.

NEW BUSINESS

Fall Programs

Mr. Adams highlighted in Recreation Director's Report the programs that the Recreation Department will offer this fall are Youth Soccer, the Pittsford Pumpkin Party, the Halloween Teen Dance, Men's & Women's Open Basketball, and Cardio-Kickboxing/Aerobics. "Pittsford Seniors" and the Recreation Department are also sponsoring a bus trip to the Calvin Coolidge State Historic Site.

All Other Business

M. Winslow asked what was being done with Memorial Field flooding issues. He suggested that a plan be in place so that work can begin at the end of the 2010 baseball season.

With no further business to discuss, K. Brown made the motion to adjourn the meeting.

J. Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

Randy Adams, Recording Secretary                                Rob Ketcham, Chairman
