Pittsford Day 2007

R. Adams summarized how he thought the day went. Overall, he was very happy with the way things went. He liked the fact the event had been shorten by two hours. He didn't think it took away from the event all. One area that he felt needed improvement was a correct time for the day's activities. The past two summers for whatever reason the day's activities did not happen at their published times. To keep people coming back year after year we need a solid timeline that families can count on. R. Adams reported that the Pittsford Day Committee had already met once since the event to recap this year and to begin planning for next. R. Adams informed everyone that the Pittsford Day Committee is actively looking for new recruits and invited any interested Recreation Committee members to their next meeting in October.

Summer Day Camp

Day Camp ran six weeks from June 25 - August 3. This year's program went rather smoothly. A total of 178 spots out of 180 were full. First year Day Camp Director Emily Drummond and her staff did an outstanding job getting ready for camp, working with the kids, and keeping focused on the daily tasks at hand. R. Adams was happy to report that all of the paid counselors this summer started their camp careers with the Recreation Department as campers. He noted it has been interesting to watch these kids grow up over the years.

Pittsford Seniors

Over the past year and half the Recreation Department has been working to extend our programs to include senior residents. Since May 2007 the Recreation Department has been working with a new senior citizen group called "Pittsford Seniors". This group has come together to voice their needs, wants, and concerns. Attending their meetings is a great opportunity to get insight on what type of programming they're hoping for. The Recreation Department has helped to set up a new luncheon program that will happen monthly at the VT Police Academy. The first luncheon is Thursday, August 23 at 1:00 pm.

Kathleen Ramsay, "New" Town Manager

R. Adams reminded the Recreation Committee that Pittsford has a new Town Manager and that they should take the opportunity to stop by the Town Offices to meet her. He noted that she's worked hard to get herself up to speed with town business. R. Adams noted that she has demonstrated a keen interest of the Recreation Department, our programs, and using the Recreation Area. He also mentioned that she been helpful to him since her arrival and forward to working with her in the future.

All Other Business

R. Adams informed Recreation Committee that the Recreation Department had two separate items in the Select Board's informational packet for them to review. The first item was to inform them that he has been contacted by an individual who is willing to donate approximately $2000.00 to replace the 1999 brush hog that is used by the Trails Committee to keep the walking trails mowed. The second item was to let the Select Board know that he had been contacted by the OV Girls Varsity Soccer Coach, Dick Williams. Mr. Williams would like to camp overnight at the Recreation Area with his team as a team building activity.

M. Cioffredi informed R. Adams that she was a Certified Therapeutic Therapist and offered her services to the Recreation Department and the Pittsford Seniors.

R. Adams thanked Kendra Spotts for her efforts with the Recreation Department this summer. K. Spotts spent 13 weeks in the office as part of a work co-op experience to gain experience and knowledge working in a small Recreation Department.

With no further business to discuss, M. Cioffredi made the motion to adjourn the meeting.

K. Shortsleeves seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

Randy Adams, Recording Secretary                               Rob Ketcham, Chairman
