RECREATION DIRECTOR'S REPORTS
R. Adams presented the April Recreation Director's Report.
R. Adams informed the Recreation Committee that he had put together a Bid Packet for replacing the old fence, along with the old wooden posts that separates the swim area from the rest of the Recreation Area. New chain link fencing, aluminum posts, and gates would replace the existing fence. The second portion of the project would include re-installing the old swim fence on the upper baseball and softball fields using new posts and hardware. R. Adams noted that bids were due by 11:00 am on Friday, April 20, 2007. The projected is scheduled to be completed by mid-May.
Movies at the Recreation Area & Leehy's Letter
R. Adams passed along a letter he received from Mr. Michael Leehy, a neighbor of the Recreation Area, that discussed his concerns with the Recreation Department showing films at the Recreation Area in the evening. It was the consensus of the Recreation Committee that the Recreation Department go ahead with showing films at the Recreation Area.
Recreation Area Passes
R. Adams presented three separate choices of designs for the "new" Annual Recreation Area Season Passes. Members were asked to give their opinion on each. It was the Recreation Committee's suggestion to use the one color (& cheapest) print copy versus the multi color copy.
Day Camp Resident vs Non-Resident
R. Adams voiced his concern about the number of non-residents that have already contacted him in reference to Summer Day Camp. R. Adams stated it seems that each summer he's receiving more and more phone calls from non-residents wanting information about in reference to camp. He noted that a formal non-resident policy (for this particular program only) should be put in place to be fair and equal to resident and non-residents alike. The Recreation Director discussed a few different ways to approach the issue and then suggested that perhaps a certain number of camp slots for each session be camp be reserved for out of time. The Recreation Committee discussed the pros & cons of that suggestion. The Recreation Committee suggested an alternate method to Recreation Director's giving Pittsford residents the first opportunity to register and then a week before camp begins allow non-residents to fill any voids. The Recreation Director agreed that the Recreation Committee's suggestion would be a fair & consistent way to deal with it year after year.
All Other Business
With no further business to discuss, M. Winslow made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
J. Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
