Recreation Director Randy Adams was also present.

Recreation Committee member Mark Winslow was not present.

The minutes of April 11, 2006 were read and accepted. K. Brown made the motion to accept the minutes as read.

M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

R. Adams reported that the Recreation Department was in a transitional period finishing winter programs and moving into spring & summer programs.

Update Roof Bid

R. Adams informed the Committee that the Re-Shingling of the Bath House bid had been rewarded to Todd Blanchard Construction of Pittsford and that work has been completed.

Compact Tractor Bid

R. Adams indicated that he was still working on the specification sheet portion of the bid and hoped to have a complete bid packet ready to be warned per Town policy by the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2006) at the latest so an August 2006 delivery date is possible.

Swim Area Supervisor Vacancy

At the April Recreation Committee Meeting members were informed that Colin Spensley, 2005 Lifeguard Supervisor, would not be returning from Boston to work at the Recreation Area. R. Adams stated that he has replaced by promoting lifeguard/American Red Cross Swim Instructor Kristen Casella. K. Casella has worked for the Recreation Department each summer since 2004. She began her career with us as a lifeguard and has worked her way up the ranks to Supervisor

Coaches & Umpires Needed

R. Adams mentioned to the Recreation Committee that there were still spring and summer coaching positions to fill. The same was said for umpires. R. Adams was looking for assistance in filling those vacancies.

Summer Programs

R. Adams further highlighted the programs and events that the Recreation Department will be offering this summer. He talked about the Pittsford Fishing Derby scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2006. He also updated everyone on Camp Caverly, the “new” day camp program for five year olds. Traditionally for the previous last 12 or 13 years this camp had been operated solely by the EEE Pre-school but in 2005 their funding ran dry and the camp had to be cancelled. So this summer the Recreation Department, with EEE’s assistance, is going to run this program. R. Adams went on to mention that Camp Caverly would be ran before the 6-weeks of Day Camp begins and wouldn’t interfere with it’ operation at all.

Work Party to Stain Pavilion

R. Adams informed the Recreation Committee that he was planning a work day for either Saturday, May 20 or Saturday, May 27 and asked for their help to stain the picnic pavilion at the Recreation Area. He reminded the members that the structure hasn’t been stained or treated at all since it was built in the spring of 2002 and its becoming weather checked. R. Adams stated that he’d contact each member when a final date is decided upon. Mr. Bill Drummond of Aubuchon Hardware has offered to donate the stain. Mr. Adams provided Glidden color samples for everyone to look at and then asked the committee to support his recommendation of Rustique. M. Poljacik made the motion to support Rustique color for the pavilion.

S. Eugair seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

With no further business to discuss, M. Cioffredi made the motion to adjourn the meeting.

M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
