Meeting was called to order by Rob Ketcham at 7:14 pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who were present include Kathy Shortsleeves, Mark Poljacik, and Michele Cioffredi.
Recreation Director Randy Adams was also present.
Recreation Committee member Kathy Brown arrived at 7:35 pm.
Recreation Committee member Mark Winslow was not present.
The minutes of September 14, 2005 were read and accepted. M. Poljacik made the motion to accept the minutes as read.
K. Shortsleeves seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
The Recreation Committee read the Recreation Director’s Report. R. Adams passed along the praise he received from the Selectboard to the Recreation Committee. R. Adams wanted to make certain that the Recreation Committee knew that he appreciated the effort that each one them contributed to the Recreation Department.
Recreation Area Short Term & Long Term Goals
In September the Recreation Committee held their Recreation Committee meeting at the Recreation Area so that members of the Committee could have a chance to tour the grounds to get a fresh perspective of the area so that the Short Term and Long Term Goals lists can be updated. A discussion was had and many ideas were put forth, these ideas will be added to the current goal lists and will be presented to the Recreation Committee at their next meeting.
Recreation Committee Vacancy
R. Adams informed Committee members that there was still a vacancy to fill on the Recreation Committee. Interested people are asked to send a letter of interest and experience to the Recreation Department by October 31, 2005. If the position isn’t filled by the end of October R. Adams will re-post the opening.
FY 2006/2007 Work Plan
R. Adams informed the Recreation Committee that he was still working on the Work Plan for FY 2006/2007 and that he was still looking for their input on the subject. FY 2007 Work Plans and Budgets are due on Wednesday, September 21, 2005. The Board of Selectmen is scheduled to review the “proposed” FY 2007 Recreation Department Work Plan and Budget on Wednesday, October 5, 2005.
FY 2006/2007 Capital Improvements
R. Adams informed the Recreation Committee that he had started working on getting a Specification Sheet prepared for a compact tractor. Last year the Recreation Department indicated in its five year Capital Expenditure Plan that it was looking to replace the lawn tractor at the Recreation Area with a more versatile compact tractor.
No new business was discussed.
With no further business to discuss, Mark Poljacik made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
Kathy Shortsleeves seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
