PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED SEWER ORDINANCE
The meeting was called to order at 6:30PM by Thomas “Hank” Pelkey, Chairman.
Select Board members present: Thomas Hooker, Jane Cornell, W. Joseph Gagnon, Allen Hitchcock and Thomas “Hank” Pelkey.
Also present: Bruce Edwards, Lee Kahrs, John Haverstock and Kelly Giard, Recording Secretary.
The Public Sewer Ordinance Hearing was called to order at 6:49 PM by Chairman Thomas “Hank” Pelkey.
The Select Board entered into the Public Hearing on The Sewer Ordinance.
J. Haverstock gave a history of the project.
The Water & Sewer Commission modernized the language; updated the document language; explained segregation of storm water; explains the updated billing measures; explains the sump pump connection rules; explains unacceptable discharge into the system; explains radioactive and odorous discharge into the system; explains industrial discharge monitoring and controls over discharge quality; explains penalties from non-compliance charges; explains charges and authorizes the Town to inspect and enforce concerns.
J. Haverstock explained that the Water & Sewer Commission worked with an original document from Mike Smith that had combined various Town’s ordinances. The document was also reviewed by Bruce Babcock, Shawn Hendee, Bob Berardo and the Town’s attorney.
Motion by A. Hitchcock and seconded by T. Hooker to revamp the document every 15 years to keep the information current. Motion passed unanimously 5 – 0.
The Public Hearing was adjourned at 6:49 PM.
