MINUTES OF AUGUST 13, 2013
PITTSFORD RECREATION AREA
@ 6:30 pm
Meeting was called to order by Rob Ketcham at 6:35 pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who were present include Bill Crossmon, Jenny Parker, Mark Poljacik, John White, and Mark Winslow
Recreation Director Randy Adams was also present.
Recreation Committee member Kathy Shortsleeves was not present.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
The minutes of July 9, 2013 were read and accepted. B. Crossmon made the motion to accept the minutes as read.
M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
R. Adams presented his August Recreation Director’s Report to the committee.
OLD BUSINESS
Walk around Recreation Area as a group
After the meeting was adjourned those who wanted to walked around the Recreation Area. The Recreation Committee agreed that the tennis courts need be resurfaced. The last time it was done was in June 2003. The Recreation Director said he had spoken with Shawn Erickson and the Highway Department is scheduled to begin work on the Playground at the Recreation Area on 8/27.

Woodchucks’ Revenge- Sunday, 8/11, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at the Recreation Area

NEW BUSINESS
Welcome Sign @ the Recreation Area
Recreation Committee member B. Crossmon suggested that the Recreation Department put up a Welcome Sign on Recreation Road that clearly displays all the things the area has to offer. B. Crossmon said not everyone knows ALL the different items the Recreation Area offers. He felt this would help better inform residents and nonresidents alike. The Recreation Committee agreed.
Fall Programs
The Recreation Department plans to offer Women’s basketball at the VT Police Academy, youth soccer, aerobics/kickboxing, a four-week adult tennis clinic, Hunter Education, a teen dance at the Brandon Town Hall, Men’s basketball, the annual Disc Golf Tournament and the Pumpkin Party are scheduled for 10/26 at the Recreation Area. The Recreation Department is cosponsoring a bus trip to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular on Saturday, 11/16 with the Brandon Recreation Department. The very next week will be the Holiday Craft Fair on Saturday, 11/23.
All Other Business
With no further business to discuss, J. Parker made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7:35 pm.
