MINUTES OF February 12, 2013
PITTSFORD TOWN OFFICES
@ 6:30 pm
Meeting was called to order by Rob Ketcham at 6:35 pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who were present include, Jenny Parker, Mark Poljacik, Kathy Shortsleeves, and John White.
Recreation Director Randy Adams was also present.
Recreation Committee members Bill Crossmon and Mark Winslow were not present.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
The minutes of January 8, 2013 were read and accepted. J. Parker made the motion to accept the minutes as read.
K. Shortsleeves seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
R. Adams presented his February 2013 report to the committee. R. Adams reminded the Recreation Committee that the Recreation Area entrance gate is opened and closed each day now year round weather permitting.
OLD BUSINESS
Winter Programs
The Teen Dance scheduled for Friday, February 8, 2013 at the VT Police Academy had to be postponed because of a snow storm it has been rescheduled for Friday, March 8, 2013. The Recreation Department sponsored a School Break Fun Day, on Wednesday, 2/20/13. They’ll visited the Green Mountain Rock Climbing Center in Rutland in the morning and the VAC (Vermont Achievement Center) Pool in the afternoon. The Recreation Department is sponsoring the Learn to Ski/Snowboard Program at the Middlebury Snow Bowl on Sunday mornings March 3-24. The Recreation Department will be sponsoring a Winter Celebration sometime this winter at the Pittsford Recreation Area, time & date yet to be determined.
Community Center Idea
The Recreation Committee agrees that a Community Center would be a value asset to the town.
NEW BUSINESS
Memorial Day Parade Ideas
The Town Manager John Haverstock asked for ideas for possible Memorial Day Parade coordinator.
Other Business
Bob Harnish, Pittsford Trails Chairperson asked the Recreation Director to speak to the Recreation Committee about “finding new and younger” Trails Committee members, to help with maintaining the Pittsford Trail Network.
All Other Business
With no further business to discuss, J. White made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
J. Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.
