PITTSFORD RECREATION DEPARTMENT
MINUTES OF September 14, 2011
TOWN OFFICES @ 6:30 pm
Meeting was called to order by Rob Ketcham at 6:30 pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who were present include, Jenny Parker, Mark Poljacik and
Kathy Shortsleeves.
Recreation Director Randy Adams was also present.
Recreation Committee members Bill Crossmon, Scott Eugair, and Mark Winslow were not present.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
The minutes of August 22, 2011 were read and accepted. M. Poljacik made the motion to accept the minutes as read
J. Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
R. Adams presented his September 2011 report to the committee. Mr. Adams spent time discussing the Recreation Area, and the damage it sustained during Topical Strom Irene. The Recreation Director stated that the Recreation Area escaped major damages especially compared to other communities such as Brandon, Killington, & Rutland.
OLD BUSINESS
Swim Area Closing Date
The last day the swim area was scheduled to be open was Tuesday, August 25, 2011, the day before Lothrop students were scheduled to return to school. The swim area had to close on Sunday, August 28, 2011 when Irene hit and did not reopened for the season.
Summer Programs
R. Adams spent time discussing how the summer programs went summer for the Recreation Department. He talked about day camp went.
Recreation on Facebook
It was the consensus of the Recreation Committee members present that the Recreation Director should place the Pittsford Recreation Department on Facebook. The Recreation Director will work with Recreation Committee, Vice Chair, Kathy Shortsleeves to do this.
Budget FY 2013
The Recreation Director hand out copies of the current budget so Recreation Committee members have an opportunity to take them home with them and go over them at their own leisure.
NEW BUSINESS
Irene Relief Ideas
R. Adams informed the committee that the Pittsford Fire Department is doing a fund raising campaign for Irene victims. The group is organizing many different ways that they can raise funds programs he was working on. The group’s next meeting is Monday, September 19, 2011 @ 6:30 pm at the Pittsford Fire House.
All Other Business
With no further business to discuss, made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
