MINUTES OF July 10, 2012
PITTSFORD RECREATION AREA
@ 6:30 pm
Meeting was called to order by Rob Ketcham at 6:30 pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who were present include Bill Crossmon, Jenny Parker, Mark Poljacik, and Kathy Shortsleeves.
Recreation Director Randy Adams was also present.
Recreation Committee members Mark Winslow were not present.
Recreation Committee member John White arrived at the meeting at 6:45 pm.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
The minutes of April 10, 2012 were read and accepted. M. Poljacik made the motion to accept the minutes as read.
B. Crossmon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
R. Adams presented his report to the committee.
OLD BUSINESS
Town Wide Yard Sales
The 2012 Town Wide Yard Sales were a huge success. 32 (23-2011, 47-2010) folks pre-registered to take part in our annual event that began in 2010. Many other locals held yard sales at the same time.
Swim Sessions
The Recreation Director explained the four swim sessions the Pittsford Recreation Department were teaching this summer. Three sessions are the Recreation Department’s own classes and the fourth is for the Brandon Boys & Girls Club.
NEW BUSINESS
Pittsford Summer Music Series
The Recreation Director reminded the Recreation Committee that the Recreation Department wouldn’t be sponsoring a Pittsford Day this summer however in its place for at least 2012 would be a series of live music performances. The first event was held on Friday, June 1, around 500 people came out to hear Steve Spensley and friends play music and enjoy free ice cream. The second Pittsford Summer Music event “On the Rocks” is scheduled to play at the Recreation Area Saturday, July 14, 7-9 pm. The third and final event is the Aaron Audet Band scheduled for Sunday, August 12, 2012, 6-8 pm.
Model T Event Tuesday, July 17, 2012
Kathy Shortsleeves reported to the Recreation Committee that “The Model T Ford Club International Inc.” will be touring through VT July 16-20. On Tuesday, July 17, 2012 over 200 Model T’s with close to 500 folks will be coming to the Pittsford Recreation Area to eat a box lunch provided to them by Kamuda’s Market.
Other Business
It is the wish of the Recreation Committee members present to have the August Recreation Committee meeting at the Pittsford Recreation Area, just like July.
Bob Harnish, Pittsford Trials Chairperson asked the Recreation Director to speak to the Recreation Committee about “finding new and younger” Trails Committee members, to help with maintaining the Pittsford Trail Network.
All Other Business
With no further business to discuss, M. Poljacik made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
J. Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7:30 pm.
