MINUTES OF November 16, 2010
TOWN OFFICES @ 6:30 pm
Meeting was called to order by Kathy Shortsleeves at 6:35 pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who were present include Bill Crossmon, Jenny Parker, and Mark Poljacik.
Recreation Committee member Rob Ketcham arrived at 6:46 pm.
Recreation Director Randy Adams was also present.
Recreation Committee members Scott Eugair and Mark Winslow were not present.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
The minutes of October 12, 2010 were read and accepted. J. Parker made the motion to accept the minutes as read
K. Shortsleeves seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
R. Adams presented his November Report to the committee.
OLD BUSINESS
Volunteers needed for Protective Fencing Project
The Recreation Director indicated that he was still looking for volunteers to assist him installing the protective fencing for the bench areas on fields #2 & #3. Half of this fencing was donated by the Middlebury Fence Company. M. Poljacik recommended that the Recreation Department wait until the spring to install the fencing. He stated that the work could be included as part of Recreation Area clean up effort.
Winter Programs
In order to inform the new Recreation Committee member the Recreation Director talked about the Recreation Department’s upcoming winter programs such as Youth Basketball, Ski/Snowboard Lessons at the Middlebury Snow Bowl, Safe Sitter Baby Sitting Class, etc…

The idea of hosting a Winter Carnival at the Recreation Area was discussed after J. Parker asked if the Recreation Department was going to sponsor a Winter Celebration. Last year’s event was cancelled due to the weather and ground conditions.
With no further business to discuss, K. Shortsleeves made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
B. Crossmon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 7:45 pm.
