Town of Pittsford
Pittsford Sewer Board Meeting
May 17, 2006
Thomas “Hank” Pelkey opened the meeting at 7:05PM. Sewer Board members present were: Thomas “Hank” Pelkey, Allen Hitchcock, Joseph Gagnon, David Markowski, and Thomas Hooker. Also present were Michael Balch, Linda Drummond, and Tom Carrara.
The Sewer Board minutes of May 3, 2006 were reviewed, discussed, and approved.
Consider the Elm Street repair specifications
M. Balch handed out an addition to the bid draft which provided for a per foot charge in excess of 200 feet. D. Markowski stated that the State now recommends testing of the structures using a water test. It is not recommended that a vacuum test be done on the manhole. M. Balch will look into a change on Page 151 #3 Minimum excess diameter of 22” height which D. Markowski believes was changed in 2003 to be 30” because of the confined egress on municipality projects. These were State specifications given to M. Balch which he will look into.
A. Hitchcock would like to see the test for the pipe quality on video. He will check with Bruce Babcock. There is major leakage on the hole around the incoming pipe. M. Balch will add to the bid to repair the leak while the other work is being done on the manhole.
D. Markowski suggested that a time saver would be for the manholes to be purchased with precast concrete inverts.
M. Balch stated that letters will be going out to the people to notify them of the work on Elm Street, the dates, and if leakage is seen from the residents’ service lines, that they will have 90 days to correct their line or will be disconnected. Informing residents door to door will also be done as soon as there are definite start dates.
M. Balch will issue the bid with any above mentioned changes.
With no further business, the Sewer Board adjourned at 7:20PM.
