RECREATION DIRECTOR'S REPORT

R. Adams presented his August Recreation Director's Report.

OLD BUSINESS

2008 Summer Day Camp

R. Adams stated that the six weeks of Summer Day Camp are over. This summer's theme was "Summer Down Under." Camp Director Kendra Spotts has just returned from studying abroad in Australia for a semester. She shared a wonderful new and fun curriculum that kept the kids entertained. What impressed R. Adams the most was how organized Ms. Spotts was. She planned the weeks out ahead of time. Each day she wrote her daily plans out like a teacher would do. Based on the feedback R. Adams has received from parents Ms. Spotts and her counselors Mark Vitagliano and Julie Ketcham did an outstanding job this summer. R. Adams stated that he felt privileged to have such capable help. Over 121 children took part in this particular program this year. Numbers were down slightly from other years, but the Recreation Director blames the increased prices of gasoline & home heating oil and some families may be feeling overwhelmed with dept.

Pittsford Day

The Pittsford Day Committee finally meant in early August to wrap the 2008 Pittsford Day event. Over all the committee was happy with how the event did, however it'll be know as the year it rained and the last two hours had to be cancelled. The committee was very pleased that new organizations like Omya, Inc. and the Maclure Library were part of the day. Visitor numbers were down a bit, but it was the first time it was held on a Saturday and it threaten to rain for most of the day. The Pittsford Day Committee is looking for new recruits to lighten the load that they each bear.

Recreation Area

The July meeting was held at the Recreation Area to give committee members an opportunity to walk around the grounds so that they could give some feedback of what they saw. Many different ideas, questions, & remarks were brought up in the short visit. R. Adams urged members to write down their thoughts & feelings so they can be discussed at a later meeting.

NEW BUSINESS

Eagle Scout Benches

R. Adams informed the Recreation Committee that he will be meeting with the Boy Scout to map out the locations where benches will be planted. The Recreation Director invited the Recreation Committee members to come along also so they could have some say in the placement.

All Other Business

With no further business to discuss, K. Shortsleeves made the motion to adjourn the meeting.

M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 7:59 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

Randy Adams, Recording Secretary                                Rob Ketcham, Chairman
