ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

The minutes of November 8, 2005 were read and accepted. K. Shortsleeves made the motion to accept the minutes as read.

M. Cioffredi seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT

The Recreation Committee read the Director’s Report. R. Adams verbally discussed the popularity of the Kickboxing program and was excited when he told them that he had more than the minimum number of individuals to pre-register (prepay) for the December class, which ensured the program would continue through the holiday season.

OLD BUSINESS

Recreation Area Short Term & Long Term Goals

At the October 11, 2005 Recreation Committee meeting a discussion was had and many ideas were put forth, these ideas were added to the current goal lists, titled Goals Lists 2006. Recreation Committee members were given the “UPDATED” versions of both the Long & Short Term Goal lists. R. Ketcham discussed the area at the Recreation Area between Sugar Hollow Brook and the Upper Fields. He thought it would be wise if the Recreation Department invited the County Forester this winter back to that area to mark trees for thinning purposes, so when spring arrives we’ll have an idea as to the work that needs to take place in that particular area. R. Ketcham also expressed that he would like to see trees planted along eastern side of Sugar Hollow Brook near the pavilion. He suggested that R. Adams also talk to the County Forester about the finer details of planting next to the brook such as what type of tree would be best, spacing issues, and what time during the year would it be to plant the trees.

Playground Sign @ the Recreation Area

Recreation Committee members received as part of their evening packet an updated version of the playground sign. Members were satisfied with the layout & wording of the sign. R. Adams will bring a final draft to the Recreation Committee for their approval before any work is done to the permanent sign.

NEW BUSINESS

2006 Winter Brochure “DRAFT”

R. Adams gave the Recreation Committee a sneak preview of what the Recreation Department was going to be offering this winter. R. Adams quickly highlighted several of the programs that were listed, noted changes, & encouraged members to proof read the document.

Recreation Director’s Report for the 2004-2005 Annual Report

A week or so before the meeting R. Adams e-mailed Recreation Committee members a copy of his 2004-2005 Recreation Director’s Report. Other than grammar comments no discussion was had.

OTHER BUSINESS

With no further business to discuss, Mark Poljacik made the motion to adjourn the meeting.

Kathy Shortsleeves seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
