Proctor Water News: “Involuntary” Shutoff Definition
After initially taking the position that Proctor Water customers in Pittsford facing abandonment and choosing to now terminate their service from Proctor Water did so “voluntarily”, the State’s Agency of Natural Resources has changed its position. It now confirms that, because Proctor has announced its plans to abandon its outer district customers, all Proctor Water customer in Pittsford qualifies as facing an “involuntary” shut-off such that they are eligible to participate in the State’s loan fund, to be administered by the Town of Pittsford.
There is now no longer any reason for such Pittsford customers of Proctor Water not to drill their own wells, contact Proctor and terminate service and, seek loan fund assistance from the Town of Pittsford (if desired). All those who may want to seek such financial assistance must contact the Town Manager no later than August 24 to so indicate.
