RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT

R. Adams presented his March Report to the committee. After the February 9, 2010 Recreation Committee Meeting the Recreation Director and K. Shortsleeves went to his office to see if they could find pricing information on tickets for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the “Rockettes”.. The Recreation Department and the Girl Scouts are hoping to cosponsor a trip to New York City in the early fall of 2010. At this time there was no ticket information available, however the Recreation Director stated that he would continue to monitor their website. R. Adams was approached by the Pittsford Historical Society (& others), he was asked if the Recreation Department would be interested in sponsoring a town wide garage/lawn sale. They also wanted the Recreation Director to find out if the Pittsford Seniors would cosponsor too. The Historical Society will be having their annual lawn sale the third Saturday of June, making it June 19, 2010 would be the date. J. Parker asked if there would be places for residents who don’t live accessible area to bring the sale items to sell? K. Shortsleeves wanted to know if the Recreation Department was the point contact if they would hand out a list of lawn sale addresses. The Recreation Director suggested that a sub-committee be formed to work out the finer details.

OLD BUSINESS

Memorial Field (a.k.a.-Lower Rec. Field)

R. Adams that he was pleased the Town Budget passed. That includes $13,000.00 to be used towards this project that was quoted at $21,000.00. The Town of Pittsford & the Recreation Department hopes for a better pricing in a competitive forum, however in the end the Recreation Department will need to raise other funds to see this project through.

Town of Pittsford’s new website

“www. pittsfordvermont.com”

The Recreation Director reminded the Recreation Committee to take a look at the town’s new website. He said the Pittsford Trails page should be finished soon and available for folks to use.

Summer Programs

The Recreation Director indicated that Heather Durkel will be returning again as the 2010 Summer Day Camp Director. Kayla Gallipo will also be returning to the Recreation Area as the Swim Area Supervisor.

NEW BUSINESS

Find New Recreation Committee Member(s)

On February 10, 2010 Kathy Brown submitted her resignation from the Pittsford Recreation Committee. Kathy Brown had been a member of the Recreation Committee since January 2005 when she was appointed to fill a vacancy left by Kelly Carter. Over the past five years, Kathy has been invaluable member of the Recreation Committee who will be surely missed by us all who had the opportunity to work side by side with her. She was as dependable, enthusiastic member, who brought a great deal knowledge to the group. She is a great supporter of the Recreation Area, our programs and it easy to tell how much loves the town she lives in. Kathy Brown was also a key component of the Pittsford Day Committee. As the Treasurer of the Pittsford Community Corporation it was her job to keep the Pittsford Day checkbook. Kathy always kept a close, detailed eye on the funds both coming in and out. Kathy was great about properly thanking each and every donor. Over the past few summers she had put her own touch of class and Americana on the annual event by putting red, white, and blue bunting along bridge that spans the Sugar Hollow Brook. Kathy will be surly missed; I can’t say thank you enough.

All Other Business

After hearing M. Poljacik comment, “that he would like to help the Pittsford Day Committee with the planning process” R. Ketcham made the suggestion that the Pittsford Day Committee (Jill Blanchard, Jenny Parker, Phaedra Washburn, and Randy Adams) meet on the on the same night as the Recreation Committee so the Recreation Committee could be become more involved.

With no further business to discuss, K. Shortsleeves made the motion to adjourn the meeting.

K. Brown seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,

Randy Adams, Recording Secretary                          Rob Ketcham, Chairman
