MINUTES OF December 10, 2009
PITTSFORD TOWN OFFICES @ 7:00 pm
Meeting was called to order by Rob Ketcham at 6:07 pm. Members of the Recreation Committee who were present include Kathy Brown, Mark Poljacik, and Jenny Parker.
Recreation Director Randy Adams was also present.
Recreation Committee members Scott Eugair, Kathy Shortsleeves and Mark Winslow were not present.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
The minutes of October 13, 2009 were read and accepted. K. Brown made the motion to accept the minutes as read.
M. Poljacik seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
RECREATION DIRECTOR’S REPORT
R. Adams presented both his November and December Reports to the committee.
OLD BUSINESS
Terry Poor/Tony Freson “Disc Golf Proposal”
During the months of September and October T. Poor and T. Freson have tentatively laid out the holes their purposed Disk Golf course on Town of Pittsford land at the Recreation Area. They have been researching costs of the disk golf holes and brainstorming ideas how to play for them. By word of mouth, they have already raised $1200.00 towards their goal.
Recreation Department Budget FY 2011
At the November 18, 2009 Select Board meeting R. Adams presented the Recreation Department’s FY 2011 work plan and budgets. He discussed what the Recreation Department had been up to during the current fiscal year along with it plans for FY 2011.
R. Adams indicated to the Selectmen that fixing the draining problems at the Memorial Field was one of the Recreation Department’s top priorities for FY 2011.
Brandon Recreation Department
R. Adams reported that he continues to work closely with Shawn Smith, the part-time Brandon Recreation employee. R. Adams was happy to say that the Brandon Recreation Department was nicely represented at both the Halloween and Winter Freeze Teen Dances. Each event S. Smith has arrived on time & was an asset to the event. For each event, he coordinated volunteers to assist us with setting up, chaperoning, and even had volunteers stay to help with cleaning up after event.
NEW BUSINESS
Memorial Field (a.k.a.-Lower Rec. Field)
Markowski Excavating, free of charge, came out to the Recreation Area to assess the drainage issues at the lower recreation field. They developed a work proposal, along with a proposed budget to fix the drainage problems on the field. This will help the Recreation Department get the work out to bid. The project will not begin until the end of the 2010 youth baseball season. At their November 18, 2009 the board indicated that we could put it out to bid, but DID NOT guarantee that the town would award the bid.

All Other Business
R. Adams indicated to the Recreation Committee only meant 7 times out 12 months in 2009. One of the Recreation Director’s goals for 2010 is to improve these numbers. M. Poljacik stated that he liked the idea of switching the day and time of the monthly Recreation Committee meetings to the second Thursday of each month at 6 pm. He also stated that he “liked the way the Recreation Director took it upon himself to find an alternate day and time for tonight’s meeting.”
With no further business to discuss, K. Brown made the motion to adjourn the meeting.
J. Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
The meeting adjourned at 8:15 pm.
